[2026-02-25]South Korea Launches Integrated Disability-Friendly Hospitals and Expands Health Services

South Korea has announced its first comprehensive plan to improve health and medical access for people with disabilities.
The plan includes integrated disability-friendly hospitals and expansion of health checkup institutions.
Implementation will occur from 2026 to 2030, with annual progress reviews and a mid-term evaluation in 2027.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare has designated 71 institutions for the third phase of rehabilitation medical care.
This policy aims to reduce disabilities and accelerate patient return to daily life through intensive rehabilitation.
The new designations will be effective from March 2026 to February 2029.
