South Korea has been confirmed to host the 4th UN Ocean Conference in June 2028. The UN Ocean Conference, which aims at the conservation and sustainable use of ocean resources, involves 193 member states. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to cooperate with the UN DESA for a successful conference.

Prime Minister Kim Min-seok presided over a meeting to review the protection of overseas citizens. The meeting evaluated risks in various regions and protection measures for Korean nationals abroad. Ministries such as the Foreign Ministry and Police Agency were urged to maintain close coordination.

Prime Minister Kim Min-seok urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and overseas diplomatic missions to proactively assess risk factors for the safety of overseas nationals. Kim emphasized the importance of cooperation among various related departments and the need for preemptive risk assessment and communication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Diplomatic mission heads reported on current situations and discussed key issues regarding the safety of overseas nationals.

Mrs. Kim Hye-kyung hosted a kimchi-making event with foreign ambassadors’ spouses. Participants prepared ingredients as per their dietary preferences and experienced Korea’s kimchi culture. The event introduced various types of kimchi and aimed at promoting cultural harmony among attendees.
