[2025-12-14]Busan’s Hwamyeong and Haeundae Districts Selected for Urban Renewal

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Busan Metropolitan City announced the selection of 7,318 households in Hwamyeong, Geumgok, and Haeundae districts for urban renewal.
This is the first case of urban renewal in local areas following the selection of 37,000 households in five first-phase new towns last year.
The Ministry plans to establish the Busan Future City Support Center next year and actively support the project approval process.

Korea and China have signed an MOU to strengthen service trade cooperation and will discuss ways to expand trade.
The two countries will hold a joint committee on the Korea-China FTA to seek ways to enhance FTA implementation and continue communication for the smooth introduction of key supply chain items such as rare earth elements.
They also discussed cooperation to revitalize local economies, ways to activate investment cooperation, and communication measures regarding trade remedy actions.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will start construction of over 50,000 homes in public housing sites in the Seoul metropolitan area next year and begin occupancy of the third new town.
Additionally, to revitalize local areas, the ministry will announce the second phase of public institution relocation plans next year and start immediate relocation from 2027, while significantly expanding local transportation infrastructure.
The ministry aims to strengthen housing welfare, support the leap of the construction industry, and actively back the overseas expansion of K-construction.

The Ministry of Education will expand free education and childcare support to include four-year-olds starting next year and improve the teacher-child ratio for infants.
To foster AI talent, the ministry will introduce fast-track programs for innovative master’s and doctoral degrees and strengthen postdoctoral support.
Additionally, various measures will be implemented to promote regional educational innovation and enhance capabilities to respond to climate crises.

The Broadcast Media Commission will strengthen its response to fake information and online illegal activities to create a safe broadcast media environment.
It plans to minimize social harm caused by online fake information through legal and institutional improvements, strengthening public-private cooperation, and user education.
Additionally, various measures such as the establishment of a transparency center, activation of fact-checking, and prevention of illegal spam will be implemented to create a safe digital environment.
