The Korean government has initiated a special investigation into suspected jeonse fraud and speculative real estate transactions in Seoul and Gyeonggi, and will conduct a comprehensive review of high-end apartment gift deals.
Authorities including the Ministry of Land, National Tax Service, and police are intensifying investigations and source-of-funds checks for all major transactions reported in the second half of 2023.
The government plans to strengthen cooperation and enforcement to ensure market order and housing stability, with ongoing crackdowns on illegal real estate activities.
