[2026-01-13]Major Crime Investigation Agency and Prosecution Office Act: Key Reforms in Korean Prosecution System
Prosecutors’ direct investigation authority is transferred to the Major Crime Investigation Agency, while the Prosecution Office focuses on indictment and maintenance.
The new agency will investigate nine major crimes, including corruption, economic crimes, public officials, elections, defense projects, major disasters, drugs, national security, and cybercrime.
