[2025-12-16]Rural Development Administration and KREI Sign Agreement on Agricultural Satellite Data Utilization

The Rural Development Administration’s Agricultural Satellite Center and the Korea Rural Economic Institute’s Agricultural Observation Center signed an agreement to utilize agricultural satellite data.
The agreement aims to systematically utilize satellite imagery in the agricultural observation field, with the satellite scheduled to launch in 2026.
The two institutions will cooperate in establishing a major agricultural product information collection system, jointly analyzing and utilizing data, and hosting academic events and personnel exchanges.

The Rural Development Administration and the Korea Rural Economic Institute held a policy research conference on ‘AI Transformation, National Agricultural Policy and R&D Strategy’.
Oh Jung-sik from Naver Cloud gave a keynote speech on the changes in business processes and future prospects brought by generative AI.
The two organizations signed a cooperation agreement to enhance agricultural observation using satellite imagery.

The National Pension Fund Committee held its 7th meeting of 2025 and deliberated and resolved to extend the temporary strategic hedge period.
The committee decided to extend the temporary strategic hedge period until 2026 to prepare for exchange rate losses following stabilization after a sharp rise.
Additionally, the committee deliberated and resolved the plan to set the target excess return rate, setting the cumulative target excess return rate for 2022-2026 at 0.248%p.

On December 14, highly pathogenic avian influenza was detected at a broiler breeder farm in Namwon, Jeonbuk.
The Central Accident Management Headquarters held a meeting on December 15 to review and strengthen quarantine measures.
Nationwide disinfection efforts around poultry farms and migratory bird habitats will be extended until December 30.

The government has paid attention to the Sado Mine conservation report published on UNESCO’s World Heritage Center website.
The report points out that the Japanese government has not faithfully fulfilled its promises made during the Sado Mine inscription.
The government urges Japan to implement the World Heritage Committee’s decisions and promises, and plans to continue dialogue with Japan.
