President Lee Jae-myung hosted a luncheon at noon today at the Blue House, inviting major religious leaders in Korea for an event titled
The luncheon was attended by Buddhist leaders including Jinwoo, the Chief Executive of Jogye Order, Deoksu, the Chief Executive of Cheontae Order, and Sangjin, the Chief Executive of Taego Order. Christian leaders included Kim Jung-seok, the President of the Korean Church Council, Park Seung-ryul, the Secretary General of the Korean Christian Church Council, and Ko Kyung-hwan, the President of the Korean Christian Federation. Catholic leaders included Archbishop Jeong Soon-taek of the Seoul Archdiocese and Bishop Lee Yong-hoon, the Chairman of the Korean Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
Other attendees included Na Sang-ho, the Chief Executive of Won Buddhism, Choi Jong-su, the President of Sungkyunkwan for Confucianism, Park In-jun, the Leader of Cheondoism, and Kim Ryeong-ha, the President of the Korean Ethnic Religion Association. President Lee listened to the opinions of these religious leaders and discussed ways to achieve national unity and social trust recovery.
This luncheon is considered an important first step towards national unity and social trust recovery. The wisdom and capabilities of the religious community are expected to greatly help in moving beyond division and conflict towards coexistence and integration. The government plans to strengthen cooperation with the religious community to promote various policies for national unity in the future.
