The National AI Strategy Committee has unveiled an action plan to achieve the world’s No. 1 position in Physical AI by 2030. This plan focuses on expanding data centers and accelerating AI transformation in industries where Korea has strengths, emphasizing ‘execution’ across multiple government departments.
The Presidential National AI Strategy Committee held a press conference on the 15th to commemorate the 100th day of its launch, explaining its major achievements and the AI Action Plan draft. The committee announced that it would gather opinions from various sectors from the 16th to January 4th next year. The press conference was attended by Vice Chairman Lim Moon-young, eight subcommittee chairs, and five TF leaders.
The committee, which was launched on September 8th as the nation’s top AI strategy organization, approved the direction of the AI Action Plan at its first general meeting. The plan, which includes 98 tasks, was prepared through intense discussions and consultations with related ministries, led by subcommittees and TFs composed of private experts.
The AI Action Plan draft consists of three main policy pillars: creating an AI innovation ecosystem, a nationwide AI-based transformation, and contributing to a global AI basic society, supported by 12 strategic areas. The committee plans to gather opinions by publishing the draft on its website for 20 days and listening to feedback from academia, industry, research, and civil society before finalizing it.
