Vice Chairman Lim Moon-young of the National AI Strategy Committee met with Dr. Saia Ma’u Piukala, Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Region. The meeting focused on discussing cooperation plans in the healthcare sector using artificial intelligence (AI).
Vice Chairman Lim explained the current status of AI technology development in Korea and its application in the healthcare sector. Dr. Piukala emphasized the importance of AI technology in WHO’s healthcare policies.
Both sides shared examples of healthcare innovation using AI and agreed to explore future cooperation plans. In particular, they had in-depth discussions on ways to improve disease prediction, prevention, and diagnostic accuracy through AI technology.
Through this meeting, both organizations agreed to maintain a continuous cooperative relationship and actively utilize AI technology in the healthcare sector. They plan to hold regular meetings to further specify cooperation plans.
