요약 본문

The Korea Customs Service, Incheon International Airport Corporation, and Korea Aerospace Industries Association have decided to collaborate to dominate the aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) market. These organizations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to attract and activate the MRO business, aiming to develop Incheon International Airport into an international hub.

The global aircraft MRO market is projected to expand from 144 trillion won in 2024 to 172 trillion won by 2034. An advanced integrated aviation complex is being gradually established in Incheon International Airport’s free trade zone, with the first MRO cluster area recently completed.

The Korea Customs Service plans to foster the MRO business with customs administrative support measures, providing pre-consultations on customs procedures and operational requirements, and facilitating rapid import approval for aircraft and parts. It is also amending relevant notices to create added value and new employment opportunities. Incheon International Airport Corporation will create a one-stop service cluster, attract investment, support tenant companies, and manage security for MRO facilities to support industry activation.

Customs Commissioner Lee Myong-gu, Incheon International Airport Corporation Vice President Kim Beom-ho, and Korea Aerospace Industries Association Vice President Kim Min-seok stated that through the agreement, they will promote deregulation of new industry barriers and domestic and international publicity, strengthening global competitiveness.
