The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to promote ‘K-Culture’ as a future core growth industry under the vision ‘K-Culture, enjoyed by all citizens and embraced by the world.’ The ministry reported its major work plans for next year with this vision at the Government Sejong Convention Center on the 16th.
Next year, the ministry will focus on nurturing ‘K-Culture’ as a future core growth industry, establishing a solid foundation for a cultural powerhouse, achieving the early goal of 30 million ‘K-Tourism’ visitors, and promoting trusted sports and healthy citizens. To achieve this, they plan to develop tailored strategies for the cultural creation industries such as film, games, and popular music, and expand the sales and export scale of the content industry.
In the K-pop sector, they will support the improvement of performance facilities in multipurpose sports facilities and the construction of a 50,000-seat dome stadium. They will also establish comprehensive plans to secure performance venues and event halls in the world’s seven major cities and support entry into new markets such as Latin America. In the traditional culture sector, they will develop collaborative products utilizing traditional values such as Hanbok, Hangeul, and Hanji, and expand local exports in connection with the three major daily life sectors of ‘K-Culture’: food, beauty, and fashion.
The ministry will provide comprehensive support for the welfare of artists and amend the ‘Artist Rights Protection Act’ to eliminate blind spots in the protection of artists’ rights. They will also expand cultural consumption support so that everyone can enjoy cultural content in their regions and support cultural and artistic activities without regional disparities. To achieve the early goal of 30 million ‘K-Tourism’ visitors, they will establish regional tourism hubs and systematically improve the convenience of foreign visitors.
