[2025-12-14]Vice Minister Kim Jin-ah Discusses AI Economic Cooperation at Pax Silica Summit

Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Jin-ah attended the Pax Silica Summit held in Washington, D.C. on December 12, discussing ways to strengthen cooperation among like-minded countries across the entire technology supply chain, which plays a crucial role in realizing the AI economy. The summit was attended by countries including South Korea, Japan, Singapore, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Australia, the UAE, and Israel.

Participating countries agreed to actively explore specific cooperation measures such as joint project discovery and expanded joint investment to establish a reliable supply chain ecosystem in various fields such as advanced manufacturing, AI infrastructure, and critical minerals. They adopted the Pax Silica Declaration to reflect this commitment. The summit, initiated by the U.S. State Department, covered topics including advanced manufacturing, AI infrastructure, critical minerals, economic security, AI economy, and the global economy.

Jacob Helberg, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, who chaired the meeting, evaluated the Pax Silica Summit as a new partnership where countries with the world’s most advanced technologies can gather to discuss ways to strengthen economic security. He also proposed that like-minded countries build a reliable cooperation network based on their respective strengths across the entire value chain of advanced industries such as AI and semiconductors.

Kim Jin-ah, the head of the Korean delegation, emphasized the need for inter-country cooperation to strengthen resilience across the global AI supply chain, including energy, critical minerals, advanced manufacturing, AI infrastructure, and transportation and logistics. She expressed South Korea’s commitment to contributing to supply chain stability based on the excellent capabilities of Korean companies in fields such as batteries, semiconductors, and energy. The participating countries agreed to form working groups in specific areas based on the Pax Silica Declaration to continuously explore and coordinate specific cooperation tasks.
