The Rural Development Administration, in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine, confirmed that an extract from beetle larvae is effective in inhibiting muscle loss.
Researchers produced fractions from a 70% ethanol extract of beetle larvae and applied them to muscle cell lines, observing that the butanol fraction promoted muscle cell differentiation.
The study results were published in an international journal, and the Rural Development Administration plans to develop health functional food materials from the beetle larvae extract.
