[2025-12-17]Expansion of Local Government Participation in Government Committees

The government is pushing to improve the system to systematically reflect regional opinions in the national policy-making process by expanding the participation of local government recommended personnel.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Government Legislation, and the Council of Governors of Korea have approved 20 presidential decree amendments at the Cabinet meeting.
The amendments require local recommended personnel to participate in major government committees such as the Central Environmental Policy Committee and the Youth Employment Promotion Special Committee.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, along with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Climate and Environment, has prepared a nationwide expansion plan for ‘Solar Income Villages’ and announced comprehensive government support.

Starting next year, the cost reduction period for preemie outpatient care will be extended to a maximum of 5 years and 4 months, and the cap on rewards for reporting fraudulent health insurance claims will be increased to 3 billion KRW.
This amendment aims to alleviate the medical expenses for preemies, prevent health insurance fund leakage, and strengthen post-examination management to enhance public convenience.
Health insurance premium rates and property insurance fee criteria for regional subscribers have also been adjusted and will be applied from January 1st next year.

[2025-12-16]Mandatory Pre-Report to National Assembly for Government Asset Sales

From now on, sales of government assets over 30 billion won must be reported in advance to the relevant standing committee of the National Assembly.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance has prepared measures to prevent indiscriminate privatization of government assets and to address issues of undervalued sales and lack of transparency in the sales process.
