[2025-12-17]2025 Second Zoonotic Disease Countermeasure Committee Held

The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency held the second Zoonotic Disease Countermeasure Committee with related ministries and private experts.
The meeting focused on Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) and discussed management and response measures.
The agencies will strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation through the ‘One Health’ approach and enhance the zoonotic disease surveillance system.

[2025-12-17]KDCA Announces 2026 Work Plan

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) announced its 2026 work plan, focusing on preparing for new infectious disease disasters, protecting the healthy daily lives of citizens, and proactively responding to future changes such as climate change.
In 2025, KDCA was recognized as having the world’s highest level of national health security capabilities by the WHO Joint External Evaluation and developed and commercialized the world’s first recombinant protein anthrax vaccine.
In 2026, KDCA plans to implement 10 key initiatives, including enhancing the infectious disease crisis response system, localizing infectious disease vaccines and treatments, and diversifying infectious disease diagnostic infrastructure.

[2025-12-17]Ministry of Employment Conducts Emergency Cold Wave Inspection for Foreign Workers

Ryu Hyun-chul, head of the Industrial Safety and Health Headquarters, conducted an emergency on-site inspection for foreign workers in Gyeonggi Province.
The inspection targeted small farms employing Cambodian workers, checking heating, insulation, fire prevention facilities, and emergency evacuation routes.
After the inspection, cold wave safety guidelines and rights protection notices were distributed, along with cold-related disease prevention supplies.

The Ministry of Interior held a meeting on December 16, chaired by Kim Kwang-yong, to discuss crowd safety measures for Christmas and year-end festivities.
The meeting focused on strategies to manage crowd safety during the holiday season.
The officials in charge are Choi Hoe-dong from the Social Disaster Response Division and Kim Jung-geun from the Disaster Safety Inspection Division.

[2025-12-17]Seoul Donggyo-dong Kim Dae-jung House Designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage

The National Heritage Administration has decided to register the Seoul Donggyo-dong Kim Dae-jung House as a national registered cultural heritage.
This house is a symbolic space for the democratization movement, where former President Kim Dae-jung lived since 1963.
To preserve the cultural heritage value of the house, the administration has designated the nameplate and gate, and the second-floor living space as essential preservation elements.
