Despite achieving a record $700 billion in exports last year, concerns remain over the export structure’s heavy reliance on semiconductors and the sluggish performance of traditional industries. The meeting addressed the current status and government support strategies for the ‘ABCDE’ core industries: AI, Bio, Content & Culture, Defense, and Energy. To alleviate regulatory burdens on SMEs, 79 tasks across three key areas will be improved, and 67 out of 79 government certification systems have been reformed. A comprehensive long-term plan for the safe management of household chemical products and biocides was also introduced, covering all stages from manufacturing to distribution and use.
Prime Minister Kim stated, “A policy is not complete without effective promotion,” urging ministries to turn the sense of urgency from their reports into action. He emphasized that the meeting should mark the starting point for tangible changes that citizens can experience. The government outlined concrete measures such as beneficiary-specific PR, 24/7 online distribution monitoring using AI, the introduction of e-label product markings, and age-specific experiential education and publicity.
