Eun Sung-ho, Director of Population and Social Services Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, visited the Geumgang Dream Center in Gyeryong City, Chungnam Province on January 9 to listen to the voices of the field and inspect the operation status of the ‘Geumgang Dream Pilot Project’. This visit was organized to directly check the initial settlement status of the pilot project and to gather suggestions and difficulties experienced in the field to enhance the completeness of the policy.
The onsite meeting was attended by Eun Sung-ho, officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Yang Song-hee, head of the National Food Bank Project Group, Choi Jae-sung, Deputy Mayor of Gyeryong City, Yang Young-mi, Director of Social Welfare, Jeong Myung-ok, Director of Welfare and Veterans Policy at Chungcheongnam-do, Kim Ok-sun, Welfare Policy Team Leader, Lee Jung-ki, Director of the Geumgang Dream Center, and Yeo Eun-young, Secretary General, among others. The attendees shared the status of service provision and welfare service linkage at the ‘Geumgang Dream Center’ and discussed the unique support system of ‘Geumgang Dream’, which can be used by anyone in urgent need of food.
Director Eun emphasized the importance of active participation and close communication in the field for government policies to successfully blossom in the lives of residents. He stated that the valuable opinions delivered at the site would be actively reflected in the future policy improvement process to ensure that the ‘Geumgang Dream Project’ becomes the ultimate social safety net for vulnerable citizens.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to continue communication with the field to establish the ‘Geumgang Dream Pilot Project’ as a nationwide model. Additionally, they aim to discover and disseminate excellent cases from the field, refine operational guidelines, and continuously expand welfare services that citizens can feel.
