[2026-01-11]Domestic Pork Belly and Neck Meat Up to 30% Off

Domestic pork belly and neck meat, representative foods of Korea, will be sold at up to 30% discounted prices starting from the 8th at 100 branches of large supermarkets, superstores, and Nonghyup Hanaro Mart nationwide. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that it would promote discounts on pork and eggs to stabilize livestock prices in January ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Eggs will be supplied at lower unit prices to Nonghyup Distribution and Hanaro Distribution to induce consumer price reductions. If 30 special eggs are supplied for less than 6,100 won, 1,000 won per tray will be supported. The first discount event will be held from the 8th to the 15th, and the second from the 22nd to the 29th of this month.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs stated that the number of pigs slaughtered is increasing, and the number of laying hens and egg production (49.22 million per day as of December last year) is at the same level as the previous year, ensuring stable supply of pork and eggs. Additionally, to prepare for further outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza, they are promoting the trial import of 2.24 million fresh eggs from the United States in January.

In February, they plan to promote discount events for Korean beef and pork to stabilize livestock supply, and to import 7.12 million hatching eggs to ensure stable supply of chicken meat during peak season (May to August). Ahn Yong-deok, the livestock policy officer of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, expressed hope that the livestock discount support would help reduce the burden on consumers’ shopping baskets ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
