The National AI Strategy Committee has unveiled an action plan to achieve the world’s No. 1 position in Physical AI by 2030. The strategy focuses on ‘execution’ at the pan-government level, including expanding data centers and accelerating AX (AI transformation) in industries with strengths. The Presidential National AI Strategy Committee held a press conference on the 15th to commemorate the 100th day of the committee’s launch, explaining the committee’s major achievements and the AI action plan (draft), and announced that it would gather opinions from various sectors from the 16th to January 4th next year.

The committee, launched on September 8th, is the nation’s top AI strategy organization and approved the direction of the AI action plan at its first plenary meeting. Subsequently, the AI action plan (draft) was prepared through intense discussions and consultations with relevant ministries, involving subcommittees and task forces composed of private experts. The AI action plan is a national strategy focused on practical ‘execution,’ presenting tasks that each ministry must implement, and is a new form of national strategy.

The AI action plan consists of three policy pillars: creating an AI innovation ecosystem, a nationwide AI-based transformation, and contributing to a global AI basic society, supported by 12 strategic areas. To create an AI innovation ecosystem, it plans to expand large and small data centers based on advanced GPUs and domestic AI semiconductors and introduce a proactive and constant security inspection system using white hackers. To lead next-generation AI technology, it aims to achieve the No. 1 position in Physical AI by 2030 by securing core technologies and data and establishing a virtuous cycle system where AI accelerates scientific discoveries.

The committee will gather opinions by publishing the draft AI action plan on its website for 20 days and listening to feedback from academia, industry, research institutes, civil society, and major organizations. Through this process, the committee plans to finalize the AI action plan at its second plenary meeting. Vice Chairman Moon-Young Lim emphasized that they would closely monitor and adjust each ministry’s implementation to ensure results and provide further support.
