The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to foster ‘K-Culture’ as a future core growth industry under the vision ‘K-Culture, enjoyed by all citizens and embraced by the world.’ The ministry reported its major work plans for next year with this vision at the Government Sejong Convention Center on the 16th.
Next year, the ministry will focus on four major tasks: fostering ‘K-Culture’ as a future core growth industry, building a solid foundation for a cultural powerhouse, achieving 30 million ‘K-Tourism’ visitors early, and establishing a trusted sports environment and healthy citizens. To this end, it will develop tailored strategies for cultural creation industries such as film, games, and popular music, and plan to expand sales and export volumes of the content industry.
In the K-pop sector, the ministry will support the improvement of performance facilities in multipurpose sports facilities and build a 50,000-seat dome stadium to match the global status of K-pop in the long term. It will also expand the scale of creative musicals and attract overseas investment, and develop collaborative products with traditional culture. The ministry plans to expand growth strategies for food, beauty, and fashion industries as part of the ‘K-Culture’ industry and strengthen export support for overseas cultural hubs under the vision ‘Culture-led K-Exports.’
The ministry will strengthen the foundation for artists to focus on creation without worrying about their livelihood and support stable artistic activities for young creators to revitalize the creation of basic arts. It will also expand cultural consumption support so that anyone can enjoy cultural content in their region and systematically improve the convenience of travel from entry to departure from the perspective of foreign visitors. In the sports sector, it plans to support the enhancement of athletes’ performance and continue to promote the eradication of sports violence and reform of sports associations.
