[2025-12-17]Minister Song Mi-ryeong Visits Yeoncheon to Inspect Rural Basic Income Pilot Project

Minister Song Mi-ryeong of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs visited Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do on December 16 to gather opinions from local residents on the pilot project for basic income in rural areas and to inspect the project site.

The Ministry plans to operate the pilot project for basic income in rural areas for two years from 2026 to 2027, targeting areas with declining rural populations. This project aims to reward the public contributions of residents in rural areas at risk of extinction and to stimulate the local economy through consumer spending.

Minister Song visited Cheongsan-myeon in Yeoncheon-gun, which has been operating rural basic income since 2022, to review its achievements and inspect Yeoncheon-gun’s plans for the pilot project. She also gathered opinions from residents regarding the project.

Additionally, as Yeoncheon-gun began pre-registration for basic income applications on December 15, Minister Song visited the Jeongok-eup Administrative Welfare Center to inspect the application site and check the registration status.
