The Joint Civil-Military Special Advisory Committee’s Future Strategy Subcommittee visited the 5th Division AI Surveillance Operations Center on December 16. This visit was conducted for an on-site discussion on the transition to an AI-based manned-unmanned combined surveillance operation system.
Five civilian experts, including Commissioner Kang Eun-ho, discussed the operational concept, achievements, and future development directions at the AI Surveillance Operations Center. Commissioner Kang evaluated the on-site discussion as a meaningful time to hear the vivid voices of the mission personnel.
The Future Strategy Subcommittee plans to prepare a military restructuring plan targeting 2040 through in-depth discussions on security environment analysis, future operational concepts, and development plans in various fields, considering factors such as population decline, advanced technology development, and the diversification of traditional and non-traditional threats.
The Ministry of National Defense stated that it would do its best to build a smart and strong military trusted by the people by reflecting the recommendations in the national defense reform and pushing it forward without any setbacks.
