Foreign Minister Cho Hyun met with a high-level British delegation, including MPs Liam Byrne, Chi Onwurah, and Catherine West, who visited Korea to attend the Korea-UK High-Level Forum on December 16. They discussed ways to enhance the global strategic partnership between Korea and the UK, as well as regional and international affairs.
Both sides welcomed the recent conclusion of the Korea-UK Enhanced FTA and expressed hopes that it would further expand trade and investment between the two countries. Minister Cho appreciated the UK’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with Asian countries, including Korea, following Brexit. The British representatives emphasized the need for closer cooperation to address common challenges such as climate change, AI investment, and regulatory frameworks.
Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in various fields, including trade and investment, security and defense, and cultural exchanges, based on the ‘global strategic partnership’ between Korea and the UK.
