[2025-12-17]2025 Second Half Corporate Environment Policy Council Held

The Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry will jointly hold the ‘2025 Second Half Corporate Environment Policy Council’ on December 16 at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul. This council is a semi-annual permanent consultative body aimed at facilitating smooth communication and cooperation between the government and businesses, and improving regulations and difficulties related to climate and environmental fields.

The meeting will be attended by Lee Ho-hyun, the Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment, Park Il-jun, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and about 20 corporate executives. They will focus on discussing policies of high interest to the industry and difficulties in the industrial field. The Ministry will explain and discuss the implementation and support measures for the ‘2035 National Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target (NDC)’ and the fourth national emissions trading allocation plan announced on November 10.

Additionally, they will focus on expanding support policies for low-carbon products, developing and realizing emission factors for calculating air pollutant emissions, and improving the operation of the hazardous chemical sales permit system, which are areas of high interest to companies. Vice Minister Lee emphasized that the government will promote comprehensive support policies to ensure that the response to the climate crisis and the implementation of the ‘2035 National Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target’ do not weaken the competitiveness of companies.

Vice Minister Lee also urged the industry to strengthen its competitiveness through changes in industrial structure in line with the trends of the times and to cooperate in preempting new markets and technologies.
