The Rural Development Administration (RDA) and the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) jointly held the 17th Policy Research Council on December 15, under the theme ‘AI Transformation, National Agricultural Policy and R&D Strategy’. The council discussed ways to cooperate on AI-based future agricultural policies and research and development.
Jung-sik Oh, Director of Naver Cloud, delivered a keynote speech on ‘Business Process and Future Prospects Changed by Generative AI’, and Kang-ho Jeong, Director of the Technology Convergence Strategy Division at RDA, presented the ‘AI Convergence Strategy for Rural Development Projects’. Additionally, Seok-il Lee, Head of the Observation Model Team at KREI, presented on ‘Agricultural Observation Using AI’.
The comprehensive discussion covered practical cooperation measures such as linking and sharing agricultural data, establishing an AI-based agricultural observation system, advancing satellite information analysis models, and expanding joint research. Prior to the council, the RDA’s Agricultural Satellite Center and KREI’s Agricultural Observation Center signed an MOU on ‘Utilizing Agricultural Satellite Information and Advancing Agricultural Observation’.
Through this agreement, the two institutions will establish a collaborative system to introduce agricultural satellite imagery into the entire agricultural observation process and will actively promote the scientific advancement of agricultural observation by combining satellite information analysis with field and aerial survey data. This will strengthen the national agricultural observation network and support the establishment of a satellite-based observation system, a key government project.
