On the 16th, the Public Procurement Service (PPS) held a ‘Client Meeting for the Development of Evaluation Indicators and Improvement of Evaluation Methods for AI Project Proposals’ at the Government Complex Daejeon. This meeting was organized due to the fundamental differences between traditional software development projects and AI projects, which have highlighted the limitations of existing evaluation methods in selecting suitable contractors for AI projects.
The meeting was attended by about 10 officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the National Information Society Agency, who discussed in depth the direction of evaluation items and indicators based on the characteristics of AI projects, and ways to improve the AI project specialized evaluation system.
The PPS plans to finalize and implement improvements to the AI project evaluation criteria and methods next year, based on the opinions gathered from the previous AI contractor meeting and this meeting.
Kang Shin-myeon, Director of the Technical Services Bureau, stated, ‘AI projects have diverse technical characteristics and risk factors, making it difficult to ensure sufficient accuracy and fairness in evaluations using existing methods alone. We will establish a more objective and specialized AI project evaluation system that reflects the practical needs and challenges of the ordering agencies.’
