The Ministry of Employment and Labor, along with Gyeonggi Province and the International Labour Organization (ILO), will host the ‘2025 International Labor Festa’ from the 16th to the 17th at the KINTEX Exhibition Center in Ilsan. This event is the first in Korea where central and local governments, as well as international organizations, gather to discuss ‘decent jobs’ and the ‘future of work’ with youth, with over 500 young people participating.
On the first day, key figures such as Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon, and ILO Employment Policy Director Lee Sang-heon attended. Additionally, major figures from domestic labor and management sectors, including KCTU Chairman Yang Kyung-soo, FKTU Chairman Kim Dong-myung, and KEF Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik, were also present.
On the ‘Policy Day’ on the 16th, discussions with youth and an international labor forum were held. Minister Kim Young-hoon defined the youth employment issue as a task to be solved through cooperation and solidarity between central and local governments and the international community. He presented three policy directions: expanding job opportunities for youth, strengthening the protection of basic labor rights, and solving problems through dialogue and cooperation.
On the ‘Dialogue Day’ on the 17th, the ILO will host the Global Youth Employment Forum, where youth will propose the ‘2030 Youth Employment Roadmap’. Minister Kim emphasized that youth are partners in setting and implementing policy directions and that the Ministry will continue communication and cooperation to bring about substantial changes.
