The Ministry of Education (Minister Choi Kyo-jin) announced that it will hold the first meeting of the ‘AI Talent Development Promotion Team’ on December 16 (Tuesday) at the Government Complex Seoul. The ‘AI Talent Development Promotion Team’ was formed to practically implement the ‘AI Talent Development Plan for All’ announced last November and to continuously discover new tasks to respond to the rapidly changing AI era.
The promotion team is led by the Vice Minister of Education and includes 19 field experts from the education, research, and industry sectors. To ensure that AI talent development policies among government ministries are promoted with interconnectivity, some members of the ‘National AI Strategy Committee’ and the ‘National Education Committee’s AI Era Education Special Committee’ will also participate in the promotion team.
In this first meeting, discussions will cover ‘AI Ethics,’ which has become increasingly necessary from universities to high schools, and the ‘AI Hub University Development’ as part of the ‘Regional University Development Plan for National Balanced Growth’ to be announced in December. Regarding ‘AI Ethics,’ opinions from students, teachers, and parents will be deeply collected through the ‘Together School Platform (www.togetherschool.go.kr)’ immediately after the promotion team meeting.
Future promotion team meetings will diagnose the current status of AI education in the actual education field and discuss practical measures to strengthen the connection with policies through field visits. Vice Minister of Education Choi Eun-ok stated, ‘The next 3-4 years are crucial to securing leadership in the AI era’s international competition,’ and added, ‘We will discover tasks to intensively nurture excellent AI talent through the AI Talent Development Promotion Team.’
