The Social Reform Committee held a policy forum for the establishment of reform tasks at the National Assembly Museum on December 15. This committee is an advisory body under the Prime Minister, where civil society, political parties, and the government participate together to discuss social reform tasks.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, Democratic Party floor leader Kim Byung-ki, Progressive Party leader Kim Jae-yeon, Basic Income Party leader Yong Hye-in, Social Democratic Party leader Han Chang-min, and the first chairman of the Social Reform Committee Park Seok-woon, and honorary director of the Free Press Practice Foundation Lee Bu-young. Prime Minister Kim emphasized that an official communication platform has been established where civil society, political parties, and the government can discuss reform tasks together.
Chairman Park Seok-woon stated that the committee was launched as a result of the agreement between the Square Presidential Election Solidarity and the five parties in the National Assembly. The party leaders also emphasized the significance of the committee’s launch, expressing hope that the discussions would lead to changes that the public can feel.
In the policy forum, Professor Kim Kwi-ok of Hansung University chaired the discussion, and Kim Bo-kyung, Secretary-General of the Social Democratic Party, Ahn Sung-yong, co-representative of the Christian National Assembly, and Lee Na-young, director of the Justice Memory Solidarity, participated in the discussion. The committee plans to discover reform tasks through various online and offline events and hold national reporting conferences to announce the progress and results.
