[2025-12-16]Launch of Social Reform Committee and Policy Forum

The Social Reform Committee held a policy forum for the establishment of reform tasks at the National Assembly Museum on December 15. This committee is an advisory body under the Prime Minister, where civil society, political parties, and the government participate together to discuss social reform tasks, connecting reform demands raised by civil society and political parties to the government’s official policy discussion system.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, Democratic Party floor leader Kim Byung-ki, Progressive Party chairman Kim Jae-yeon, Basic Income Party leader Yong Hye-in, Social Democratic Party leader Han Chang-min, inaugural Social Reform Committee chairman Park Seok-woon, and honorary director of the Free Press Practice Foundation Lee Bu-young, who delivered congratulatory and introductory remarks.

Prime Minister Kim Min-seok stated that an official communication platform has been established where civil society, political parties, and the government can gather to discuss and seek solutions for reform tasks. He emphasized that substantial discussions on key reform tasks in the political and social fields, such as resolving structural unfairness and inequality, which civil society has long demanded, will begin in earnest.

Following the inauguration ceremony, a policy forum was chaired by Professor Kim Kwi-ok of Hansung University, with discussions led by Social Democratic Party Secretary-General Kim Bo-kyung, Christian National Assembly co-chair An Sung-yong, and Justice Memory Foundation director Lee Na-young on the theme of ‘Suggestions for the Establishment and Implementation of Social Reform Agendas.’ The committee plans to operate various online and offline events to discover reform tasks, and will gradually hold national report meetings to set and announce the progress and results of the discussed tasks.
