On December 15, the government held the 33rd Information and Communications Infrastructure Protection Committee meeting at the Government Complex Seoul, presided over by Yoon Chang-ryul, the head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination. This meeting was organized to review the information protection systems of relevant ministries managing major information and communications infrastructure, in light of recent large-scale security breaches involving SKT, KT, and Coupang.
The 33rd Information and Communications Infrastructure Protection Committee was held at the Government Complex Seoul, with attendees including the head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the National Intelligence Service, and representatives from 20 other agencies. The meeting discussed the current status and future plans for responding to security breaches in both the private and public sectors.
Yoon Chang-ryul emphasized that, given the recent series of hacking incidents and personal information leaks, relevant ministries should remain vigilant to prevent large-scale security breaches in major information and communications infrastructure. He also urged thorough prevention measures and the strengthening of organic cooperation systems, including the sharing of breach response technologies among institutions.
