[2025-12-13]Korea Forest Service Implements Measures to Combat Fake Jujubes in Vietnam

The Korea Forest Service (Director Kim In-ho) announced on the 12th that it is implementing measures to prevent damage to domestic export companies due to the sale of low-cost counterfeit jujubes in Vietnam, which are being marketed as ‘Korean Boeun jujubes’ as jujubes gain popularity as health foods.

The Korea Forest Service is working with local buyers to improve consumer awareness by informing them about the distribution of counterfeit products disguised as Korean jujubes and promoting methods to distinguish genuine Korean products. Additionally, they have requested cooperation from the Vietnamese government to crack down on the illegal distribution of dried jujubes.

In 2024, they supported export companies by producing QR codes for anti-counterfeiting and attaching packaging materials for Boeun jujubes. They also conducted seminars for Vietnamese intellectual property officials on how to distinguish genuine Korean products. The Korea Forest Service plans to continue promoting Korean forest products globally to support export companies.

Song Won-young, head of the Korea Forest Service’s Forestry Export Trade Team, stated that they plan to continuously listen to and resolve the difficulties of the export industry to prevent the infringement of the brand value of Korean forest products, and strengthen cooperation with local authorities and related organizations.
