[2025-12-13]Broadcast Media Commission Strengthens Response to Fake News and Online Illegal Activities

The Broadcasting Media Communications Committee plans to strengthen its response to false information and illegal online activities to create a safe broadcasting media communication environment. Additionally, it aims to strengthen public broadcasting systems, enhance the responsibility of broadcasting reviews, and ensure media access rights to strengthen media sovereignty.

On the 12th, the committee held a briefing at the Sejong Convention Center in Sejong City to report on this year’s major achievements and future key tasks. The briefing focused on three main areas and 15 detailed tasks centered on restoring media publicness, enhancing media sovereignty, and building a future-oriented digital and media ecosystem.

The committee plans to minimize the social harm caused by online false information through various improvements such as legal and institutional reforms, strengthening public-private cooperation systems, and user education. Additionally, it will implement a certification system for bulk message transmission to prevent illegal spam and strengthen monitoring by establishing a deepfake detection system and enhancing the obligation to prevent the distribution of illegal recordings.

The committee aims to revitalize the broadcasting media industry through the development of AI technology related to broadcasting media, improving production processes, and enhancing global competitiveness. It also plans to establish a comprehensive support system to strengthen the competitiveness of local and small broadcasters and community radio, and support youth and small businesses through the discovery and nurturing of new jobs such as digital creators.
