[2025-12-10]Military Clashes Reoccur at Thailand-Cambodia Border

Recent armed clashes between the armies of Thailand and Cambodia in the border areas has prompted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue a Level 3 travel advisory (recommendation to leave) for the border areas of both countries as of 17:00 on Dec 10 (Korean time). The special travel advisory issued in July for the border areas remains in effect, with the areas within 50km from the Thailand-Cambodia border upgraded to Level 3 (recommendation to leave).

In Thailand, Level 3 travel advisories have been issued for the southern part of Songkhla Province bordering Malaysia, Patani Province, Narathiwat Province, Yala Province, and areas within 50km of the Thailand-Cambodia border. The special travel advisory remains in effect for Chiang Saen Border Crossing and Mae Sai Border Crossing, Level 2 (caution advised) is issued for Tak Province, and Level 1 (alert advised) is issued for all remaining areas.

In Cambodia, Level 4 travel advisories (prohibition of travel) have been issued for Bokor Mountain area in Kampot Province, Bavet City, and Poipet City. Level 3 travel advisories (recommendation to leave) have been issued for Sihanoukville Province and areas within 50km of the Cambodia-Thailand border. Special travel advisories are in effect for Preah Vihear Province, Oddar Meanchey Province, Banteay Meanchey Province, Battambang Province, Pailin Province, Pursat Province, and Koh Kong Province.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges citizens planning to visit these areas to cancel or postpone their travel plans and recommends that citizens already in these areas move to safer locations. The ministry will continue to monitor the situation in Thailand and Cambodia and consider further adjustments to the travel advisories.
