The Ministry of SMEs and Startups held the ‘Deep Tech Value-Up Partnership Day’ on December 10 to share the achievements of recommending and matching promising deep tech startups to large companies for technology cooperation. The event aimed to spread open innovation outcomes such as technology proof, supply contracts, and investment linkage, and to explore collaboration directions for next year.
The program started with a pilot project with Hyundai Motor last year and this year involved 11 large companies collaborating with 62 startups. A total of 736 startups were recommended, with an average competition rate of 12 to 1. DeepInsight achieved CES Innovation Awards and supply contracts with large companies.
Startup A secured an investment of about 12 billion won and will participate in a promotional booth at CES next year. Startup B received matching investment through a 10 billion won fund. The event included a ceremony recognizing the efforts of large companies and support institutions with ministerial commendations.
Key attendees included executives from Hyundai Motor, LG Science Park, POSCO Holdings, and KT. Hyundai Motor Vice President Jeong Ho-Geun expressed satisfaction with ongoing collaboration with startups. Startup Policy Officer Cho Kyung-won emphasized the government’s support for institutional improvements, technology protection, and global expansion in the public-private collaboration process.
