The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the agricultural machinery company TYM held a ceremony to donate advanced tractors to 16 young farmers. The event took place on December 10 at TYM’s Iksan plant.

This donation ceremony is the first public-private cooperation case to address the difficulties young farmers face in securing initial capital and machinery, and it holds great significance in supporting their settlement in farming. TYM has been providing free tractors since 2020, and this year, it collaborated with the ministry to establish criteria for selecting recipients and forming an evaluation committee.

From August to September, a total of 300 young farmers applied for tractor support, and 16 were finally selected through written and interview assessments amid a competitive ratio of 19:1. Young farmers plan to jointly use the donated tractors or support mechanization of farm work for village elders.

The ministry plans to actively support the settlement of young farmers and expects this cooperation to be a significant opportunity for them to build a solid farming foundation.
