The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the Government-Travel Industry Safety Meeting for the second half of 2025, presided over by Consul-General Yoon Ju-seok. Attendees included the Korea Association of Travel Agents, Korea Insurance Association, major travel agencies and airlines, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the Terror Information Integration Center, and Incheon International Airport Corporation.

Participants presented and exchanged opinions on topics including the political and safety situation in major countries such as Africa, trends in overseas infectious diseases and quarantine management, ways to strengthen collaboration between the government and the travel industry, and major overseas incidents and precautions. This meeting was significant for the first-time attendance of the Incheon International Airport Corporation, discussing cooperation to enhance the safety awareness of Korean citizens.

Director Yoon predicted that the number of Korean citizens traveling abroad this year would approach 30 million and that the number of overseas incidents involving Korean citizens would surpass 23,596 cases from last year. He introduced efforts to strengthen infrastructure for preventing overseas incidents and emphasized the need for reinforced public-private collaboration. He also affirmed continuous efforts for safety concerning upcoming major international events such as the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in February and the North and Central America World Cup in June.

Representatives from the travel industry positively evaluated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for organizing such discussions and pledged to actively cooperate with the government’s efforts to ensure the safety of travelers, especially ahead of the upcoming winter travel peak season. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to continue communicating with the travel industry to further strengthen the cooperation system for the safe overseas travel of Korean citizens.
