During the designated heatwave response period, a total of 500,000 bottles of water will be distributed: Jeju Province, in partnership with Jeju Development Corporation, will provide 300,000 bottles of ‘Jeju Samdasoo’ water, while the Ministry of Employment and Labor will supply 200,000 bottles through the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. Additionally, free ‘cool kits’ containing items like cooling sleeves and patches will be provided to further safeguard workers.
Implementation of the water distribution and cooling kit program will take place from May 15 to September 30, 2024, aligning with the national heatwave response period. The government will also launch the ‘Take a Break While Delivering’ campaign in collaboration with six major delivery platform companies to promote safe rest practices among mobile workers. Beyond water and kits, the Ministry has initiated a 28 billion KRW project to support the rental of air conditioners and ice machines at small construction sites, addressing heat risks across various industries.
