The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Minister Kim Jung-kwan held a meeting on the 18th with Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of ADNOC, in Seoul to discuss ways to expand industrial cooperation in follow-up to the recent Korea-UAE summit.
The meeting, following an industry ministers’ meeting in November and the UAE minister’s visit to Korea, focused on key cooperation issues such as ▲AI data center collaboration ▲joint oil stockpiling ▲cooperation in the oil and gas industry. Discussions also included follow-up measures for the ‘Stargate UAE’ project, which involves building a next-generation large-scale AI data center.
Minister Kim emphasized that South Korea has a strong group of companies in semiconductors, data center construction and operation, cooling, EPC, and power generation, and that these capabilities can contribute significantly to UAE’s AI infrastructure development. He also requested more detailed information on the Stargate project and cooperation support from the UAE government.
Both sides agreed that the joint oil stockpiling project initiated in 2013 has been a successful example of energy cooperation. They plan to discuss expanding the scale of joint reserves to enhance energy supply chain stability. In addition, ongoing upstream and downstream cooperation in the oil and gas sectors is expected to continue growing.
