The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to enact the ‘Citizen Participation Basic Act’ next year and establish a communication platform called ‘Everyone’s Square’ to systematically gather public opinions. Additionally, they will designate ‘National Sovereignty Day’, issue certificates, and resume awards for contributions to the development of democracy.
To overcome the dominance of the metropolitan area, the ministry will support the establishment of a unified special city with high autonomy and strengthen institutional support for special local governments to establish a multi-polar system centered on five regions and three special areas. Customized special cases will be expanded for Gangwon, Jeonbuk, and Jeju special self-governing provinces.
The ministry presented three policy directions, five key tasks, and two additional tasks to achieve the goal of ‘Plus for People’s Lives, Reliable Happiness and Safety Ministry’. Key tasks include completing the ‘Nation of the People’, implementing an ‘AI Democratic Government’, creating ‘Vibrant Local Areas’, fostering a ‘Warm Community’, and protecting ‘Everyone’s Safety and Life’.
In particular, they plan to improve the quality of life by providing AI-based public services, strengthening disaster safety management systems, expanding the authority and autonomy of local governments, and enacting the Social Solidarity Economy Basic Act to create a safe and happy society.
