The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Fire Agency held the ’19th Emergency Medical Advancement Conference’ on December 16 at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The event was organized to recognize individuals who have contributed to the development of emergency medical services and to boost the pride of those working in the field.
The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the National Fire Agency, the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine, the Hospital Emergency Nurses Association, the Korean Emergency Medical Technicians Association, and about 200 awardees and their families. This year, 50 commendations from the Minister of Health and Welfare (37 individuals, 13 organizations) and 10 commendations from the Chief of the National Fire Agency (10 individuals) were awarded.
Asan Chungmu Hospital received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare for its contributions to establishing a rapid treatment system for severe emergency patients and improving regional emergency medical response capabilities. Professor Lee Tae-heon of Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital received a commendation for his contributions to the development of the emergency medical system in the Gangwon region and for providing medical guidance at emergency sites.
Firefighter Ryu Kyung-wook from Geumsan Fire Station in Chungnam received a commendation from the Chief of the National Fire Agency for his contributions to national event safety management during the APEC Summit. Actor Ha Young was appointed as an emergency medical ambassador and will participate in CPR challenges and public service advertisements over the next year to promote proper emergency room usage.
