Vice Chairman Lee Jung-ryul of the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) held a meeting with Kanishka Narayan, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Online Safety at the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), on December 16 at the Government Complex Seoul.
Vice Chairman Lee emphasized the importance of establishing a personal information protection system suitable for the AI era, while also encouraging corporate innovation and alleviating public concerns through institutional support measures.
Under Secretary Narayan introduced the UK’s personal information protection system and policies related to AI and online safety.
The two sides agreed to continue cooperating to support the development of AI and ensure safe and smooth data flows between the two countries.
