The Korea Fair Trade Commission (Chairman Joo Byung-ki, hereinafter ‘KFTC’) announced the results of the ‘2025 Distribution Sector Supplier Written Survey’ conducted on suppliers dealing with major large-scale distribution companies. The KFTC conducted a survey on trading practices with 7,600 suppliers dealing with 42 large-scale distribution companies across 9 distribution sectors, in accordance with Article 30 of the Large-Scale Distribution Business Act.
The survey covered whether trading practices improved in each distribution sector during 2024, experiences of unfair practices, and the use of standard trading contracts. This year, at the request of the supply industry, the survey additionally investigated the actual conditions of information provision fees. Information provision fees refer to fees charged by distribution companies in exchange for providing sales data of supplied products or related market analysis.
The survey results showed that the percentage of suppliers who responded that trading practices of large-scale distribution companies improved compared to the previous year was 89.0%, an increase of 3.5%p from the previous year. By sector, convenience stores had the highest response rate of 92.8% for improved trading practices, followed by large marts and SSMs, and outlet complexes. Online shopping malls had the lowest response rate at 82.9%.
