The Military Manpower Administration (MMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 15th with Baekseok University, Baekseok Culture University, and Baekseok Arts University to link young people’s academic and military careers and strengthen support for military career planning.
This agreement was made to establish a systematic military career support model so that young people can use their military service as an opportunity for future growth rather than a break from their social careers. Specifically, the MMA will conduct military career counseling and briefings and provide professional consulting on the operation of educational programs within the universities.
The universities will provide educational content to foster proper military character and incorporate military career planning into their curricula. They also agreed to cooperate continuously on policy initiatives necessary to support young people. As a result, students are expected to receive recommendations for military specialties that match their aptitudes and majors through in-depth counseling before enlistment, and to build military careers in related fields, leading to integrated growth paths such as employment or returning to school after discharge.
MMA Commissioner Hong So-young stated that this agreement is an important starting point for organically connecting academic and military careers to enhance the future capabilities of young people. She added that the MMA will meticulously establish a career support system so that young people can grow through military service and seamlessly integrate that experience into their academic and life paths. She also expressed her expectation that this agreement will provide practical military career planning services that will be genuinely helpful to young people.
