The Broadcasting Media Communications Committee held the ‘2025 Broadcasting Media Communications Committee Broadcasting Awards’ ceremony in Seoul on the 12th. This government award ceremony, now in its 17th year, aims to select and award creative and excellent works produced and broadcast domestically over the past year.
This year, a total of 183 works produced and broadcast in 2024 were submitted, and after preliminary and final screenings by the judging committee, CJ ENM’s drama ‘Jeongnyeoni’ won the grand prize, and KBS’s documentary ‘Glacier’ won the top prize. ‘Jeongnyeoni’ is a drama based on a popular webtoon that reinterprets Korea’s traditional culture of gukgeuk with a modern sensibility, depicting the competition, solidarity, and growth of ‘Jeongnyeoni,’ a genius in sound, who challenges to become the best gukgeuk actor in the post-Korean War era, gaining wide empathy from viewers.
‘Glacier’ is an in-depth documentary produced on the theme of ‘glaciers,’ which have been part of Earth’s 4.5 billion-year history. It provides multifaceted and comprehensive information through scientific, ecological, and current affairs approaches to glacier formation and change, contributing to broadening viewers’ awareness of climate change. Additionally, a total of 9 works received excellence awards in the categories of social and cultural development, regional development, creative innovation, Hallyu expansion, and OTT/web/app content.
Special awards included the Hope Sharing Award, Achievement Award, and Excellence in Production Capability Award, with a total of 4 works selected. The ceremony was attended by various figures from broadcasting companies, related associations, academia, the National Assembly, and the government, celebrating the awardees and broadcasters who elevated Korea’s status by inspiring content creation and providing joy and emotion to viewers.
