[2025-12-13]Acting Commissioner Jang In-sik Takes Office

The Korea Coast Guard announced that Deputy Commissioner Jang In-sik, who is acting as the Commissioner General, officially began his duties on the 12th. The new acting Commissioner General, Jang In-sik, focused on organizational stability and rapid response to current issues, starting his first schedule by presiding over a video conference with national commanders instead of holding an inauguration ceremony.

During the meeting, Acting Commissioner General Jang stated, “I feel a great sense of responsibility as I take on the role of acting Commissioner General about six months after the new government was launched.” He emphasized to the national commanders the importance of prioritizing the safety and lives of the people, strengthening field-centered safety management, and thoroughly establishing maritime order based on law and principles, including cracking down on illegal foreign fishing vessels.

Acting Commissioner General Jang added, “I will approach my duties with a greater sense of responsibility and humility than ever before to ensure the rapid stabilization of the Korea Coast Guard organization.” He concluded the meeting by urging thorough preparations for the President’s work report and the establishment of major work plans for the next year.

Acting Commissioner General Jang, a native of Namwon, Jeonbuk, graduated from Changwon High School, Jeonbuk National University, and its graduate school with a master’s and doctorate. He joined the Korea Coast Guard as a special recruitment lieutenant in 1997 and has served in various key positions, including Chief of the Criminal Division, Chief of the Investigation Division, Director of the Investigation Bureau, and Chief of the East, West, and South Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, earning strong trust from his colleagues.
